Sign up now for Camp Akela.  Well, hey partner…you can explore America’s past by living the history that made it great at the 2004 NCAC Day Camp.  This year’s theme is Frontier Days.  The Wild West offers many surprises at camp this summer so don’t miss the excitement!  Imagine being a pioneer or a gold miner, helping lay track for the Transcontinental Railroad, and even tracking wild animals along the desert buttes.  The possibilities for day camp are endless…the only thing you need to add to this adventure is YOU!  This is a great opportunity for the Scouts to get a head start on their requirements for the next rank and have a lot of fun doing it. CampAkela is open to all ranks Tigers, Wolves, Bears, Webs I and II. Activities vary from camp to camp, but usually range from traditional Scouting games and achievement opportunities to archery and BB instruction, crafts, nature study, soccer, fishing, handicrafts, leatherwork, outdoor games and basic camp skills.

CampFees:  Please register early.  Registration forms are available online at http://www.boyscouts-ncac.org/camps/daycamps.html or from Lori Gray, your Day Camp Coordinator.  Registration received by March 12, 2004: $90, by April 16, 2004: $100 and after April 16th: $110.  Fee includes Scout’s hat, t-shirt, cup and activities.  All camp scholarships earned during the popcorn fundraiser will be deducted from your individual registration fee that is due.  Please see Lori Gray or your Den Leader for your individual scholarship amount.

Schedule and Location:  August 2-6, from 8:45 to 3:30 PM everyday (first day starting at 8:15 in order to hand out hats, shirts and cups to the scouts), at Leesylvania State Park, Woodbridge.

Den Walkers:  We are required to provide one adult (Den Walker) for every five boys attending camp.  Being a Den Walker is easy and will allow you to enjoy camp right along with your son.  Please let Lori Gray or your Den Leader know if you are able to be a walker, even if it is only for 1 day, all help is greatly appreciated and will allow the boys to attend camp.
